Five real temperatures from the bench. Nothing here is a marketing number — these are the working ranges for solid gold and silver work.
1064°C — pure gold turns liquid. Alloy goes in here: copper for rose, silver and nickel for white, nothing for yellow.
~1100°C — poured into an ingot mould, held above melting point so it fills every corner before it sets.
cold — the ingot is rolled and pulled through shrinking dies until it is wire the thickness of the link you ordered.
~750°C — each link is closed with a torch, one at a time. This is the step that decides whether a chain survives being worn.
1200°C → 20°C — dropped into water. Done hot, worn cold. The name of the shop is just a description of the process.
Plated jewellery skips almost all of this. A base-metal blank gets dipped in a solution and a micron of gold lands on the outside. It never sees a torch, and the first time the edge rubs, you see what it actually is. Everything we sell is solid through the middle, so there is nothing underneath to show.
